The G20 is an international forum which represents the world’s biggest economies encompassing both industrialized and developing nations. Its core mandate is to address the major challenges related to the global economy, developmental issues and financial architecture, such as international financial stability, climate change mitigation, sustainable development etc. India Takes World Centre-Stage with G20 Presidency, under the Indian Presidency, the G20, 2023 will focus on the theme, 'One Earth, One Family, One Future'. In its endeavor to celebrate India's presidency and to ensure participation of the youth as equal stakeholders, St.Vincent Pallotti College, Raipur, under the leadership of Principal Dr. Kuldeep Dubey who took the initiative to host an exciting G-20 Yuvamanthan event for college students on July 15th 2023. The event was graced by the Director of the institution Fr. Amit Tirkey, Vice Principal Dr. G. Padma Gouri, H.O.D’s of various Department and staff members.The event was a simulation of the actual G20 Summit with 'Health, Wellbeing and Sports: Agenda for Youth' as the theme of group discussion. The event was graced by Chief Guest Mr. Jagdish Patel, President Chhattisgarh Pharmacy Council. Dr. Vernika Sharma, a defense psychologist and a motivational speaker was the key speaker of the event. The event commenced with the welcome speech by the Principal. Speaking on the occasion, the college Principal gave insights of G-20 and how it seeks to engage youth in a global dialogue on diplomacy, leadership and collective duty through its Model G20 Summit. He encouraged students to contribute in G-20 by creating strategies for sustainability, peace and growth. The students were encouraged to bring new ideas and perspectives to craft critical actions for the whole world through this event. This was followed by the speech of Dr. Vernika, wherein she interacted with students and explained G-20 Yuvamanthan, participating nations and it’s working. The event was made relished when she spoke in Hindi about the history and achievements of India and India hosting this year’s G-20. The event was made more enjoyable and informative when student’s groups represented all the 20 nations of G-20 started group discussion. They spoke on various Health care measures, medical facilities and sports of their respective countries. Mental Health issue was addressed by the students representing USA. Students representing China gave the insights of unique sports facilities in the country. Representatives of various other countries spoke on how Covid-19 pandemic affected their health care system. The Chief Guest of the event Mr. Patel appreciated the efforts of participants and encouraged them to contribute in sustainable development by taking small steps in their day today life. He also appreciated the efforts of the college for organizing this event as through this initiative, the students got a glimpse of the international scenario and its dynamics. Principal, appreciated the organizer Mrs. Ramola Vikas Dan and participants for their enthusiastic participation and overwhelming response. Lastly, the event concluded with certificate distribution and the note of vote of thanks.
